Accountant - Financial Manager

We’re Hiring
We’re currently looking for a full-time Accountant / Financial Manager to be located in Dowagiac, Michigan. Your role will change by the season from daily bookkeeping and regularly scheduled activities to seasonal crop reporting to annual budgeting, governmental reporting and other ad-hoc projects throughout the year.

Berrybrook Enterprises provides competitive compensation packages, health insurance, 401k retirement plan with some flexibility in your schedule. Compensation is highly determined by skills and prior work experience. Hours will average a consistent 40 +/- hours throughout the year.
 
Essential Duties
  • Bookkeeping
    • Process payments for all bills, loans and other obligations
    • Process all accounts receivable invoicing and payment receipts
    • Collect, quantify and distribute specialty crop harvest data
    • Inventory and A/R report to management
  • Preparation and distribution of financial statements
  • Preparation annual operating budget
  • Manage all accounting functions of the business
  • Manage all property & casualty, health and workman’s compensation insurance policies
  • Manage all banking and lending functions of the business
  • Supervise the payroll function of the business
  • Manage the human resources function of the business
  • Maintain real estate portfolio database records and information
  • Manage IT functions of the administrative department (QuickBooks, Microsoft Office Suite, Tsheets, Fastfield Forms and others)
  • Contact person for all non-crop outside advisors and service providers (CPA, attorney, banking, insurance, IT, etc.)
 
Required Position Competencies
  • Associates Degree in Business or Accounting with minimum of 2 years full-time bookkeeping experience, with an agricultural background preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Moderate to advanced skills with computers (Windows PC environment) and office equipment
  • Near perfect organizational skills, reliability and consistency
  • Ability to effectively multi-task
  • Honesty
  • Proactivity: Act without being told what to do by senior management
  • 1 year of supervisory experience
  • 2 years of experience, QuickBooks
  • 2 years of experience, Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, charts, etc.)
  • 2 years of experience, Microsoft Outlook
 
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual - Spanish
 
Work Conditions
  • Requires ability to work in an office environment sitting for long periods of time, repetitive use of hands and eyes with computer technology (keyboards, monitors, etc.) and other office equipment for long periods at a time.
  • Must have the ability to lift 25 pounds from floor level to a 4ft height and carry a 25-pound box of paper up and down a flight of stairs.
  • May occasionally be required to drive short-distances of 20 miles or less.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with visitors and employees

Occasional out-of-office and out-of-area assignments and tasks (daily with no overnight stays)
