Farm Equipment Operator

Welcome to Berrybrook Enterprises! 
We are a medium-size, diversified operation located in Southwest Michigan. Berrybrook Enterprises has three core operations: Our Main Farm manages row crop production (corn and soybeans); Fruit Farm manages our hand-harvesting production (asparagus and apples); and our Custom Harvest operation manages specialty harvesting services.  We are a 2nd generation company, family owned and managed.  We’re committed to the continuous improvement while providing excellent and rewarding jobs for our team members.  We pride ourselves on being a progressive operation and our team shares a passion for what we do.
 
We’re Hiring
We’re currently looking for a Farm Equipment Operator to be located in Dowagiac, Michigan.  Your role will change by the season from operating John Deere planting equipment and monitors to Case harvest equipment diagnosing and troubleshooting repairs.
 
This position is well-suited for someone who:

  • Is passionate about agriculture; or has relatable skills, such as construction or military, and is looking to get into farming
  • Possesses extensive heavy equipment knowledge and has light-to-moderate mechanical skills
  • Is excited by variety in your daily work
  • Enjoys working outdoors and is comfortable with longer hours, especially during peak seasons
  • Is energetic and has the ability to produce quality results in a consistent and timely manner over extended time periods
 
Why Berrybrook
Berrybrook Enterprises offers competitive compensation packages, health insurance, 401k retirement plan with company matching, and on-site company vehicles. Compensation is determined by skills and prior work experience. Seasonal hours (Spring and Fall) will average 70-80 hours or more per week and non-seasonal hours will average 40-50 per week.
 
Daily Tasks
  • Operate farm and heavy equipment including tractors, planters, harvesters, tillage, sprayer, grain carts, bulldozer, etc.
  • Assist in walkthrough and maintenance inspections
  • Adhere to all safety requirements and follow all standard operating procedures
  • Perform pre-use inspections on equipment
  • Perform equipment and facility maintenance and repair
  • Record and maintain accurate field records
  • Communicate effectively with supervisor and team member to complete objectives
  • Often work in a fast-paced environment, working against deadlines while maintaining a high level of performance and safety
 
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to obtain commercial pesticide applicators license (desired, not required)
