New Apple Storage Project, Keeler Township

Keeler Township, MI:  Berrybrook Enterprises has begun construction on a new controlled-atmosphere storage building in Keeler Township on County Road 687, across the street from Burnette Foods Inc.

The building will store up to 140,000 bushels of apples that will supply local food processors, like Burnette, with fresh, locally grown fruit throughout the calendar year. Using locally grown apples will save processors significant transportation costs that would otherwise be spent shipping fruit in from out-of-state growers.

Southwest Michigan apple growers, like Berrybrook Enterprises, will have a resource to store their apples, which in turn will help them remain competitive in the global marketplace.

Demolition of previous structures began last month. The project is expected to be completed in the next 90 days.

Stay tuned for more updates and pictures.

Fire Truck Fun

3/18/2019

The guys, and lady, blew off a little steam last week.  This was the final voyage of the infamous Berrybrook Fire Truck.

We had this fire truck for several years...and it wasn't ever famous.  The official idea was to use it for, well...as a fire truck...in the event something caught on fire.  I think the real idea was so that someone could say, "I own a fire truck!".

Before selling it, since it has some expensive repairs attached to it, the team got her all fired up for the new owner.  But before handing over the keys, took her for one last spin...ya know...to make sure it was safe and all.

I think they enjoyed it.  Not sure.

Cheers!     - Jim

Third Generation Hassle Logo
Several members of the third generation (G3) of the Hassle family gathered this weekend to explore their family heritage, learn more about various business structures and understand some of the challenges faced by multi-generational business owners and their families.

The young adults in attendance, both live and via video feed, were John Jr., McKenzie, Joseph, Rebecca, Sarah, Scott, Collin and Amanda.

Hosted by company financial manager Jim Casler, the session also included an opportunity for G3 to work together on a special year-long project. The project was a concept developed by the partners of Berrybrook Enterprises.

Merry Christmas 2017

The barn is the perfect location for the Christmas wreath...

An angel of the Lord visited the shepherds in the field to share the good news. The loyal, devoted and noble shepherds, full of hope, traveled to the barn "to see this thing that has happened, which the Lord" had told them about.

God chose shepherds for their loyalty, devotion, hard work and never-ending hope and faith in Him.  A trait shared by farmers to this day.

The wreath's never ending circle of life and eternity embodies the season, while the barn represents the birthplace of God's greatest gift.

Merry Christmas!
