![]() Keeler Township, MI: Berrybrook Enterprises has begun construction on a new controlled-atmosphere storage building in Keeler Township on County Road 687, across the street from Burnette Foods Inc. The building will store up to 140,000 bushels of apples that will supply local food processors, like Burnette, with fresh, locally grown fruit throughout the calendar year. Using locally grown apples will save processors significant transportation costs that would otherwise be spent shipping fruit in from out-of-state growers. Southwest Michigan apple growers, like Berrybrook Enterprises, will have a resource to store their apples, which in turn will help them remain competitive in the global marketplace. Demolition of previous structures began last month. The project is expected to be completed in the next 90 days. Stay tuned for more updates and pictures.
